Figtree High School is situated in a leafy, garden suburb of Wollongong city, about five kilometres southwest of the central business district. It is near the base of the escarpment that forms one boundary of this beautiful coastal strip. Wollongong is a city of about 250,000 people about one hour south of Sydney, the largest city in NSW.
