Joshua Shepherd - Year 12
As this is Josh’s second and final year of GEC participation, he intends to go out with a bang – literally. He has been training as a human cannonball for the past six months under the stage name “the WOW factor”. In this short amount of time he has become the envy of the human cannonball world and intends to bring his new found skills with explosives and large weaponry to the team’s continuously expanding lexicon.
Peta O’Neill - Year 12
Peta has been involved in ABW since mid-2008 and is in her second year of GEC. She is a strong believer in the ‘WOW’ factor and enjoys long walks on the beach. She also has a major phobia of correct grammar, and therefore will end with a run on sentence.
Marc Smedley - Year 12
Marc has been involved in ABW since mid-2008, and this will be his second GEC. His main role in the team is creative design, in areas such as creating logos, and making the report layout. Marc also has a deep fear of metallic objects, such as alfoil and cannons, and believes that music is the cure to world hunger.
Mitchell Kelly - Year 11
As this is Mitchell’s third year of ABW participation, he is one of the more experienced members of the team. Being an aspiring businessman, Mitchell hopes to study at university after finishing school at Earnshaw, and sees ABW as the perfect tool for enhancing his knowledge and understanding of business procedures, activities and concepts.
Jacob Warhurst - Year 11
He is a puzzle, wrapped within an enigma, shrouded in riddles, lovingly sprinkled with intrigue, express mailed to the Earnshaw GEC team. Jacob has not yet experienced the thrill of the full blown GEC. However, having a taste of the qualifier, he hungers for more. Occasionally experiencing a metaphorical tumbleweed in the pit of his mind, he believes that with enough determination and commitment, his team will reign supreme.
Christopher Greathead - Year 11
Chris has been ABWing since 2008. He has made logos and videos before, but mainly helps out with image sourcing and editing or popping the popcorn. Free food and he’ll work even faster!
Gus Randle - Year 11
As this is his first time attempting the GEC, Gus aims to help the team when possible. With his awesome skills and a PHD in hilarity under his belt, Gus is hoping for his team to come out on top. He also likes to ‘jam away’ to an ‘old school’ boombox.
Joshua Capps - Year 11
This is Josh’s first time in a GEC team and he can’t wait to see the challenges they will face. His main job is to create a working model, however Josh also likes maths and can always come up with useful statistics.
Jessie Edge-Williams - Year 10
Jessie enjoys listening to her iPod and eating Oreos. This is her first year of participating in ABW and she contributes by helping to make decisions. In the future she hopes to study hairdressing and accounting.
Kahlia Smith - Year 10
Kahlia enjoys long car trips and bopping along to her favourite tunes. This is her first year of ABW and she wants to study to be a lawyer when she leaves school. She fills her time with shopping trips and is highly unenthused about work. She has a huge phobia of peas, tomatoes and anything healthy. She believes ice-cream, soft drink, chocolate and lollies are life’s pure bliss!
Mentor Profiles
Colleen Hills - Teacher Mentor
Colleen has been at the college for what seems like an eternity. She has been involved with ABW-related activities, both as a co-ordinator and mentor, since 1999. She will try anything once (within reason) and her motto is, “there is only one of me”.
Bob Steele - Industry Mentor
Bob has been working as a mentor with Earnshaw on ABW programs since 2002. He brings a wealth of business experience and knowledge to his mentoring role, and is a major factor in the college’s continued success in ABW-related activities. He likes a nice cuppa and some home baked goodies.
